This was the view from Huahine looking towards Raiatea/Tahaa with Bora Bora to the far right last January. Also show why you need to invest in good anchors with chain, line will fray and leave you on the beach. We were hit with 45 to 53 knot winds that day. This was a delivery I did last January to Oahu on a Beneteau 393. I sat here for 6 weeks waiting on the weather.

While searching and or thinking about what kind of BOB, bail out boat, to get, check out some of the sites to the right. In choosing a boat, think where you would want to go if and when things fall apart as that will help in picking the right boat. No Martha, a power boat won't do unless you have a mil or 2 laying around! :)

Been some talk of having a bail out boat lately. Fine idea for the open sea but the 1st question you need to ask yourself, " Do I have the sailing experience and know how to safely sail the seas? Can I find the right boat? Do I have the funds to equip a boat for a 3 to 4 week sail? and Where do I start?".

Last question 1st. Finding a sail boat that fits your budget is the hardest part as even a sweet deal will still set you back a few thousand in outfitting cost, but look in the back of any sailing magazine for yacht broker's websites, Craig's List, don't laugh! there are some killer deals to be found there, Latitude 38, and so on. For sale by owner CAN be a deal if the owner has health issues, just be careful and don't overlook the Mexican yacht brokers.
